Bhalswa Landfill Fire Incident: Rs 50 Lakh Fine Imposed On North Municipal Corp Of Delhi

After a massive fire broke out at the Bhalswa landfill site, a fine of Rs 50 lakh has been imposed on North Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), on April 28. The fine has been imposed after Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) submitted its report to the Environment minister. Reportedly, smoke was first reported at around 5 pm on April 26. Some areas of the site are still burning, reported PTI.

Delhi Govt Deploys 15 boats To Remove Froth From Yamuna

The Delhi government on November 9 deployed 15 boats to remove the foam formed in the Yamuna river with the help of ropes. The plan to remove the froth was prepared by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). ''The exercise will continue till the current frothing episode comes to an end,'' said an official. Reportedly, high phosphate content in detergents caused the formation of foam in the river.
