ICMR Develops A Potential Cure For COVID-19

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), on October 1, announced that it has developed a potential drug for curing COVID-19, in collaboration with Biological E Limited. ICMR said that it has prepared a  "highly purified antisera", which is supposedly acquired from horses, after infecting them with inactivated Sars-CoV2. ICMR added that the "antisera" will have to undergo clinical trials, to establish safety and efficacy.

Actor Rakul Preet Files Petition; Delhi HC To Conduct Hearing on October 15

Actor Rakul Preet Singh had filed a petition, after which she writes an application to Delhi High Court seeking urgent interim direction asking Indian Media to stop linking her with the Rhea Chakraborty 'drug case'. The negative reporting by the media has caused huge harm to the actor's image and reputation, hence she has taken this step. Rakul's notice has been listed for further hearing on October 15.

Narcotics Control Bureau to Investigate Director of Dharma Productions

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions director and executive producer, Kshitij Raviprasad, will have to visit the Narcotics Control Bureau on September 25 for the interrogation. He is asked to join the investigation regarding the drug case linked with Bollywood. However, NCB said that no raid has been conducted at his office nor home. NCB has summoned several Bollywood celebrities in connection with the drug case.

BDR Pharma's Prostate Cancer Drug to be Available in 80mg in India

BDR Pharma announced that its prostate cancer drug, Enzalutamide, will be available in 80mg in India to reduce the pill burden on patients. The tablets are used to treat men with metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC) and are priced at Rs 24,480 per pack, consisting of four strips. Earlier, in 2017, BDR Pharma had received authorization from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for its 40mg version of Enzalutamide.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Mandates Anti-Drug Undertaking

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru has decided to make it compulsory for students and parents to submit anti-drug undertaking, starting this year. The officials opined that higher education institutes were the target of drug peddlers and colleges have to take measures like setting up anti-drug committee to prevent students from falling prey. Previously, only anti-ragging undertaking was mandatory.

Karnataka: Three Held In Connection With Marijuana Cultivation

Police has arrested three brothers in connection with marijuana cultivation in Chitradurga. Former Karnataka CM Claims Money from Illegal Means was Used Against His Regime
