IGNOU Starts Online Courses For Overseas Students; Registration Open
To facilitate education of overseas students, IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) will now provide 16 online courses in various disciplines to them. Around 50% Reserved Faculty Seats Are Vacant, Reveals HRD Ministry
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal revealed that around 60% of the faculty members position at the Indian Institute of Management are reserved for the backward Classes. However, the 80% out of 60 remains vacant which is reserved for scheduled caste people. UGC Vice-Chairman Bhushan Patwardhan Quits Office
Serving for over two and half years, the UGC vice-chairman Bhushan Patwardhan resigned on February 6. Reportedly, Patwardhan stepped down eight months ahead of his term citing personal reasons. Besides, he wanted to continue his research on Ayurveda. Bhushan was instrumental in framing the National Education Policy and headed a task force created under Ayush Ministry. Before joining UGC, he was researcher and professor of health sciences.

Gujarat Govt Issues Resolution For 25% Reduction In Private Schools' Fee
Gujarat Education Department on October 7 issued a Government Resolution (GR) granting a 25% relief in fees of private schools, and removing other charges for co-curricular activities. Gujarat's Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama announced that to avail the 25% relief, parents will have to pay 50% of the fees by October 31. Mumbai: BMC Asks Private Schools to Adhere to RTE Quota Admissions
In a notice to private schools, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s education department has directed to comply with 25% RTE quota admissions. One in Five Students Take Private Tuitions: NSO Report
A National Statistical Organisation (NSO) survey reported one in five students take private coaching alongside school; the purpose behind, being better prepared for boards and entrance tests.
