Kumbh Mela Restricts Footfall; Installs Cameras That Alert Overcrowd

To monitor the footfall and COVID-19 precautionary measures, the Kumbh Mela administration has installed cameras on Ganga Ghats. Interestingly, the cameras fixed at 107 Ganga Ghats can alert police, if the region is overpopulated. As per reports, around 1.09 lakh people are allowed at a time, of which 20,000 devotees can undergo holy dip at Har ki Paudi and 10,000 pilgrims at Subhash Ghat.

NSG Commandos To Guard Kumbh Mela 2021 In Haridwar

The Uttarakhand government will deploy National Security Guard (NSG) Commandos in Haridwar's Kumbh Mela to ensure safety and tackle anti-national elements. Uttarakhand Minister Urges Union To Start Tourist Covid-19 Insurance

Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj in a letter to Union Tourism ministry has asked to launch a ‘Covid-19 Insurance’ to revive tourism in the state. Maharaj said the insurance will "..attract them (tourists) to visit India and assure them of safety”. The letter came ahead of Haridwar Kumbh in January 2021. It added that a Covid-19 insurance policy would also attract NRI’s and foreign tourists to the tourism-backed state's economy.
