Mumbai Second Most Congested City In World: TomTom Traffic Index 

The TomTom Traffic Index has ranked Mumbai as the second most congested city in the world with 53% traffic congestion. However, Mumbai recorded a steep decline of 12% from 2019 figures. Atal Tunnel Records Highest Single-Day Traffic In 2 Months

Nearly 5,450 vehicles had crossed the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang from both sides for the first time since it was opened for vehicular traffic. The tunnel inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in October 2020 turned into a tourist attraction now. The officials confirmed that 2,800 vehicles travelled towards Lahaul from Manali and 2,650 vehicles took the opposite way. SP Kullu Gaurav Singh said that over 30 drivers were fined for overtaking.

Bangalore Infant Pleas HC To Ban Vehicular Traffic In Cubbon Park

In a rare incident, a case has been filed on behalf of a five-month-old baby in the Karnataka High Court to ban vehicular traffic inside Bangalore’s Cubbon Park. The petition from baby, Kiran Medhi Kumar, had cited a study that mentioned there was a notable decline in pollution when vehicles were prohibited in the park. Accepting the petition, the court has directed the state government and other concerned authorities to respond.

Delhi Plans To Build Roads On European Pattern With More Greenery

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been planning to revamp 500 Km of 100-feet-wide roads by that of European cities. CM Kejriwal has set 2023 as the deadline to improve the congestion on the roads. Kerala: Traffic System Modernised With 'e-Challan System'

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on September 22 inaugurated the 'e-Challan system' for collection of traffic fines, as a part of an initiative to modernise the functioning of Kerala Police. The Police opined that this will remove corruption and improve transparency. With this, traffic cameras record cases of violations and then pass it to the virtual courts through the 'e-challan system'. Also, fines can be paid using 'e-treasury system'.
