US & Korea Begin Joint Military Exercises: Ulchi Freedom Shield

The United States of America and South Korea have begun joint military exercises, titled ‘Ulchi Freedom Shield’, on August 22. The Ulchi Freedoms Shield has been revived after four years due to the rising tensions in Asian region. The joint exercise also include field training. The drills will reported be carried out till September 1. Reportedly, around thirteen combined training programs have been planned.

Several Shots Fired Inside Mall Of America In Minnesota; No Causalities Reported

In US' Minnesota, sever shots were fired inside the Mall of America (MOA), situated in Bloomington. Though the incident reported no casualties, it created a widespread fear among the local crowd, amid the continuing gun violence in the country. Reportedly, the accused fled the mall following ghe incident, and as of now, no suspects have been located. The mall has been places on a lockdown until further notice.

China Flexes Military Power As US Senator Rick Scott Visits Taiwan; Warns Of 'Firm Consequences'

Following American senator Rick Scott's visit to Taiwan, China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted large-scale drills around the island, as a flex of military power. Zaara Biotech, a Thrissur-based biotechnology startup, received an unknown amount of funding from Transcend International in order to establish an Algal seaweed technology center in US. The money will be used to set up a food and beverage production plant under the brand name "B-lite," as part of the Kerala Startup Mission.
