Badrinath NH-7 In Uttarakhand Obstructed By Sliding Stones; Reconstruction Work Ongoing
The Badrinath National Highway-7 in Karnprayag was closed for many hours on August 4 because of rocks falling from a hill near Panchpulia. According to Superintendent of Police Chamoli Shweta Choubey, the task of opening the roadway has been undertaken. Passengers traveling to Badrinath at night were stopped at Gauchar for safety, and pilgrims traveling to Rishikesh were halted between Karnprayag and Langasu.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami Resolutes To Make State Drug-Free By 2025
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the goal of drug-free Devbhoomi will be achieved by the year 2025. The statement has come in a meeting with the Narco Coordination (NCORD) at the secretariat, on July 29. He said that the drug suppliers should be hit hard, while the children and youth should be protected from the grip of drugs.

Under-Construction Bridge Collapses In Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag; At Least 12 Dead, 4 Trapped
In Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag, an under-construction bridge collapsed near Narkota area, killing more than half a dozen labourers, on July 20. The bridge was located on Rishikesh-Badrinath highway, just six kilometres from Rudraprayag. Reportedly, six people have been rescued and admitted to a hospital, and four-five are feared to have been trapped. SDRF and police officials are present on site, to carry out the rescue operation.

Tiger Attacks 2 Bikers In Uttarakhand, Drags 1 Into Deep Forest
In Uttarakhand's Almora district, a tiger allegedly attacked two bikers, and dragged one of them into deep forest near Corbett Tiger Reserve, informed Forest officials on July 17. Afsarul (25), who was returning home with his friend, fell victim to the tiger, which waited patiently inside the bushes. Soon after the incidents, officials rushed to the spot and initiated a search. Reportedly, traces of Afsarul's blood has been found.

Haridwar Schools To Be Closed From July 20 To July 26 Due To Kanwar Yatra
Haridwar district magistrate in Uttarakhand on July 17 issued a six-day holiday from July 20 to July 26 for all of the district's schools and Anganwadi centers due to growing number of Kanwar Yatra pilgrims and potential road closures for procession. An annual pilgrimage by followers of Lord Shiva called "Kanwar Yatra" began on July 14. The pilgrimage resumes this year after a two-year hiatus because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Car Gets Washed Away In Dhela River, Leaves At Least 9 Dead: Uttarakhand
In Uttarakhand's Ramanagar, a car was washed away in Dhela river, killing at least nine persons, on July 8. Also, one person was rescued from the incident. Reportedly, the incident occurred at around 5 am, and four bodies have been retrieved. Meanwhile, five bodies are still trapped in the car. According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharan, the car is badly stuck.

Badrinath-Kedarnath Highway Traffic Halted Due To Debris: Uttarakhand
Vehicular movement Uttarakhand's Badrinath-Kedarnath highway came to a halt, on June 30. The traffic was disrupted due to debris caused by the onset of monsoon. According to the Rudraprayag police, the Sirobgad area has been closed since 4 am due to debris and stones falling continuously from the hill. Earlier, IMD had issued yellow alert in Uttarakhand till June 29, due to incessant rains.
