#ShameonVijaySethupathi Trends After the Release of '800' Motion Poster

After the release of '800' movie's motion poster, fans and Tamil nationalists have supported the #ShameonVijaySethupathi on Twitter against actor Vijay Sethupathi for signing the project. Reportedly, the actor will portray Srilankan Cricketer Muthaiah Muralitharan in the movie. The actor is being snubbed by fans as Muralitharan is an ardent supporter of the Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa whom the Tamil nationalists consider a ‘war criminal’. The cricketer is also said to have supported the 2009 Srilankan civil war which was against the Tamils and the Tamil nationalist organisation-- Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Fans mentioned that the actor should be ashamed of himself for picking up the role. Director Seenu Ramasamy who introduced Sethupathi to the movie industry has also requested him to drop the movie as it is against the sentiments of people. However, the filmmakers have clarified that there is no part in the movie that would hurt the sentiments of the people.
