Apple To Lose Billions After Removing Its 30% Cut In-app Purchases
US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers on September 11 ruled that Apple must provide an option for developers to avoid its commission that is about 30% on in-app purchases. Reportedly, the ruling could cause it a loss of a few billion dollars, seeing the company had earned around $6.3 billion in 2020 in the US through commissions. However, Apple will discuss the change with the judge and developers before implementing it.
