A man found a dead lizard in the coke he ordered at McDonald's in Ahmedabad. Upon complaining to the manager, he "laughed and offered a refund" of Rs 300, instead of taking any action. Also, the customer stated that the staff threatened to call the cops, if they don't leave. Reportedly, the outlet has been sealed by the food and drugs department after a complaint was lodged.

Twitter is ordered to pay $150 million as penalty for "data privacy breach", happened over a span of six years. The settlement was announced by the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission, which also alleged that Twitter "deceived the users as to how well it maintained their privacy and security". They alleged, Twitter failed to disclose that the email addresses and phone numbers will be used to send targeted ads.

Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced to step down from the Twitter Board of Directors. The announcement came on May 25, after the annual shareholder meeting. With Dorsey's exit from the Board of Directors, he is no more a part of the microblogging-site, which is now owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Notably, the talk of Jack's exit was in place since he stepped down as Twitter CEO in 2021.
The Supreme Court reviewed a petition and directed the police not to abuse during brothel raids against consenting sex workers, as it is not illegal. In a major judgment, the SC bench directed police to treat sex workers with dignity and provide them equal rights, like any citizen under the constitution. Considering the abusive attitude of police, SC said, "The police must refrain from interfering or taking any criminal action."

The Election Commission of India will take action against registered unrecognized political parties in Tamil Nadu, for non-compliance with statutory requirements. The ECI issued a notice dated May 25, and ordered to meet the necessary requirements under the Representation of the People (RP) Act. The parties mentioned in the notification list can approach the Electoral Official within 30 days of the order for full facts and remedial action.
In Maharashtra's Nagpur region, four children were infected with HIV positive, of which one died. Notably, the kids undergoing treatment for Thalassemia got HIV infection, due to blood transfusion, after the blood-bank provided contaminated blood. The Supreme Court reviewed a petition filed against the Delhi HC's judgment, granting relief to Sahara Housing Investment Corporation Limited and nine companies. Notably, in December-2021, Delhi HC put a stay on operation, execution, and investigation into Sahara Groups and nine companies. However, the Apex Court set aside the orders and allowed Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). The bench also directed the HC to decide petition expeditiously after summer vacation.
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav nominated RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary as the joint candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls. On May 26, Jayant filed his papers after Kapil Sibal and Javed Ali in Lucknow. Notably, the RLD is the constituent party of SP, which formed an alliance against the BJP. A 21-year-old adult and five other juveniles have been arrested by Delhi police for alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-olf girl, on May 26. Reportedly, the girl's friend lured her into a jungle, near the Railway line, were five other boys were present. Three boys sexually assaulted her, while three others watched the horrific act. The girl returned home and informed her parents, after which a case was filed.
The INC leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has been appointed as 'munshi' (assistant) for clerical work in the Patiala central prison. Notably, Sidhu has been given one-year imprisonment in a decades-old road rage death case (1988.) However, the new post of "munshi" will be performed from his barrack due to security reasons and will get wages like Rs 40-50, depending upon their skills like semi-skilled, skilled and unskilled.
