Indian Economist Ligia Noronha Becomes Assistant Secy-General Of UN
Indian economist Ligia Noronha has been appointed as the Assistant Secretary-General of the UN. She has also been given charge of the United Nations Environment Programme New York Office. Ligia will replace outgoing Satya Tripathi. Noronha, currently serving as the UNEP Director, has worked on climate mitigation and energy transitions with 30-year experience in sustainable development. Alumna of the London School of Economics, she had also worked as the Executive Director of TERI, New Delhi.
