Flights To Small Cities Will Be Expensive Soon

In a drawback for travellers, flights to II-tier cities are soon going to be expensive. As per sources, Civil Aviation decided to hike fares, amid the recent announcement of a hike in small airport charges. Notably, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation increased the landing and parking charges at smaller airports in India by 30%, whereas user development fees by four times. The hike in rates will be applicable soon.

Air India Announces Single Use Plastic In Flights

Aiming for a better environment, Air India announced to limit the usage of single-use-plastic in future. Air India has reduced the usage of single-use plastic by 80 per cent on board all flights across its worldwide network,  said the airlines, in an official statement. The airline has also introduced 100 per cent compostable PET lids and primary-use plastic bags besides completely compostable waste bags.

Indian Rescue Force Returns From Earthquake Hit Turkey-Syria

The 47-member Indian rescue team, which went to the earthquake hit Turkey-Syria, returned to India on February 17. The team of NDRF along with dog squad Rambo and Honey flew to India after conducting a 10-day rescue operation in the quake hit region. After 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey-Syria, the Indian Government announced 'Operation Dost'and sent a team from the Indian Army to set up rescue zones in Turkey.

SpiceJet Flight Returns To Delhi Mid-Way Amid Autopilot Snag

A SpiceJet flight travelling between Delhi-Nashik, turned midway after a malfunction in the autopilot's system of Boeing-737, on September 1. The flight, VT-SLP SpiceJet took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport, when it had to return to the airport, confirmed a SpiceJet spokesperson. Furthermore, the airlines also clarified that no passenger and cabin crew onboard suffered any injury or difficulty due to the technical snag.

Air India Express Flight Diverts To Muscat After Burning Odor Discovered From Vent

An Air India Express aircraft from Calicut to Dubai was diverted to Muscat due to a problem on board on July 16. One of the vents was discovered emitting a burning odor. This is the second time in the past 24 hours that an aircraft from one of India's airlines had to change its route. An Indigo aircraft had made a precautionary stop in Karachi, Pakistan.

IndiGo Sharjah-Hyderabad Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing In Karachi Airport Due To Technical Glitch

IndiGo aircraft from Sharjah to Hyderabad was redirected to Pakistan's Karachi airport after the pilot claimed technical fault. IndiGo stated that another flight will be dispatched to Karachi to transport passengers to Hyderabad. This is the second time in two weeks that an Indian airline has made an emergency landing in Karachi. Previously, on July 5, a SpiceJet flight from New Delhi to Dubai had to undergo an emergency landing.
