Mumbai Indians loses IPL Opener for 8th Consecutive Time
Even though Mumbai Indians lost the IPL 2020 opening match to Chennai Super Kings, it still made a record. A record which MI would not be happy to have. Mumbai lost its opening match for 8th consecutive time in IPL. MI's last won in tournament opener was in 2011. However, after 2011, it has clinched the tournament at every odd years: in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Moreover, MI won these years' tournaments after trailing in the points tally. On the other hand, CSK has blew its opening whistles in last three tournament openers. Also, Mahendra Singh Dhoni won his 100th match as a captain for the Yellow brigade with defeating MI. Besides, IPL 2020 opening match witnessed a yet another last-over finish between MI and CSK. MI had given the target of 163 runs to CSK, which the latter achieved with 5 wickets in hand and 4 balls remaining.
