North Eastern States Report 1,020 Sq Feet Forest Loss, Manipur Tops List
North eastern states; Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and others, reported 1,020 sq feet, forest loss. Published by India's State of Forest Report 2021, of all the 8 North eastern states, Manipur reported largest loss in forest cover with 249 sq feet. Notably, the loss in forest cover to shifting cultivation. In addition, as per report, India's forest cover is 7,13,789 sq feet, 21.71% region of India's geographical area.
