A massive avalanche occurred at Nepal’s Manaslu base camp, on October 2. Tashi Sharma confirmed the incident, who was attempting to climb the eighth highest mountain in the world at 8,163 metres. According to Sharma, the avalanche destroyed three dozens of tents in the base camp, however, no casualties were reported. With this, several expedition companies have called off their attempts to climb the mountain for this season.
Following multiple landslides in Nepal’s Achham district, as many as 13 persons have been killed, and 14 others have gone missing, on September 17. Meanwhile, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has ordered to deploy helicopter to carry out search and rescue operations. This has come due to incessant rainfall Nepal has been receiving. Besides, Nepal is also facing flooding and waterlogging in various parts of the country.
Deepak Mundi, suspected to be the main shooter of punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, along with two of his associates were taken to Mansa, said officials on September 11. Parwati Sunar, a Nepali mother of two, starts attending the same school as her son after fleeing at the age of 15. In the country of 29 million people, roughly 57% of women are literate, and Sunar, 27, said she intended to become "literate enough" to run her household. In West Bengal, forest officials apprehended two persons for allegedly smuggling ivory obtained from elephant tusk. The ivory weight upto 24 kgs in total. According to forest officer Hari Krishnan, the duo was coming from Malbazar area, when they were stopped and checked. The accused have admitted to the offence, and stated that the ivory was supposed to be delivered to their counterpart in Nepal. Further details are awaited.
In Nepal's Kathmandu, as many as 35 persons including a Chinese national have been arrested for allegedly running a fake a call centre in Tinkune. The accused are being suspected for carrying out illegal activities and transactions. The police also confiscated laptops, computers and other documents from the office. Reportedly, the call centre is being operated since two years, and over 2,000 persons are employed.
Tourist trains operated by Indian Railways under the Bharat Gaurav Scheme will depart from New Delhi on June 21. It will operate on Ramayana Circuit, which is part of the "Swadesh Darshan" plan. The trip would cost roughly Rs 65,000 per person, according to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. Tara Air's 9 NAET twin-engine aircraft, which went missing in Mustang's hilly area on May 29, was discovered in Kowang hamlet. The plane crashed at the entrance of the Lamche river underneath the avalanche of Manapathi Himal, according to information provided to the Nepal Army by villagers. "We are deploying a helicopter to the area for the search operation," said Ram Kumar Dani, DSP of District Police Office, Mustang.
