Watson, Du Plesis Overpower Punjab; Lead CSK To Comfortable 10-wicket Win

Amidst the debate whether to drop Watson and rope in other opener, the trust and faith of Chennai Super Kings finally paid off handsomely. Ending its losing spree, CSK defeated Kings XI Punjab in the 18th encounter of IPL 2020. However, it were Chennai's opening-duo that stole the limelight. Chasing a decent target of 179 runs, CSK's opening pair - Shane Watson and Faf du Plesis - created the second-highest partnership of IPL history. The ace-duo led their side single-handedly to win with Du Plesis scoring 87 runs and Watson making 83. With this, CSK won the match by 10 wickets, and also became the only team to register a victory in Dubai this IPL while chasing. Earlier, batting first, Punjab started well and kept hold on the situation until the 17th over, when CSK's Shardul Thakur dismissed the set pair of Rahul and Pooran. Consequently, Punjab was restricted to 178 runs. CSK is now 6th at the points table.
