A 300-year-old banyan tree in Delhi's Chandni Chowk is witnessing a survival crisis. The tree is reportedly facing threats by a real-estate construction work in the surrounding area. Filing a petition in the Delhi High Court, city-based businessman Nitin Gupta has blamed the forest department and the North Municipal Corporation for endangering the tree. Interestingly, two people have even shown interest in adopting the heritage tree.
