Maharashtra: CBI To Probe Corruption Charges Against Anil Deshmukh
The Bombay High Court on April 5 ordered the CBI to investigate the corruption charges against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The direction was issued on a PIL filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh who accused Deshmukh of giving collection targets to police officers. The court said the investigation may not be independent if it was given to the police as Deshmukh's position will affect the results.
