EC Declares By-Poll Election In Bhabanipur To Decide Mamata's Fate
In the latest development, the Election Commission has permitted CM Mamata Banerjee to contest a by-poll from the Bhabanipur assembly seat on September 30, amid the menace of COVID-19. Notably, Banerjee has to win the Bhabanipur election if she wants to continue as West Bengal's CM. The counting of votes will be done on October 3. However, the by-poll election for the other 31 constituencies has been deferred.

Congress Announce Former Minister Jayachandra as the Candidate for Sira bypolls
On September 16, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) announced that the former minister T.B. Jayachandra is the candidate for Sira by-polls. Jayachandra was a minister in the former Congress government of SM Krishna and Siddaramaiah. KPCC chairperson DK Shivakumar unanimously elected Jayachandra to contest in the by-polls. The poll date will be announced in accordance with the Bihar Assembly elections.
