India's CAG Murmu Elected As External Auditor At IAEA
At the Vienna International Center, India left behind Germany, UK and Turkey to bag IAEA external auditor position. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), aimed at promoting peaceful use of Nuclear Energy. After the first round of voting Germany stood at 36 votes, followed by India (30), the UK (08), Russia (11), Turkey (09), Egypt at (20) and Republic of Korea (02). After beating Germany, incumbent CAG Murmu was elected.

Finance Ministry on CAG's Report: Haven't Used GST Funds For Other Purposes
Finance Ministry on September 26, refused allegations imputed on them by the Comptroller and Audit General (CAG) which stated that Government used GST funds elsewhere. Denying allegations of CAG, FM stated that holding the GST compensation receipt cannot be considered as diversion of fund. CAG Disagrees With Upgradation Of 56 Mi-17 Helicopters, Calls It Unproductive
CAG stated that retrofitting 56 Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force is not a sound decision. Currently operating at limited capability, after upgradation, the choppers will be left with a 2-year life; hence, 223 crore expenditure would be unproductive, stated CAG. GST Law Violated By Centre, Funds Used Elsewhere: CAG
CAG in its recent report stated that the Centre has violated GST law by retaining Rs 47,272 crore in CFI's Fund. This money was meant to be transferred in GST compensation fund, which aims to offset the revenue loss of the states. CAG stated that the Centre used these funds for "other purposes" which "led to an overstatement of revenue receipts and understatement of fiscal deficit for the year".
