Parliament Passes Juvenile Justice Amendment Bill 2021

In an attempt to increase the jurisdiction of the district magistrate and additional district magistrate related to child care and adoption, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill of the same Act of 2015 was passed by Rajya Sabha on July 28. Notably, Lok Sabha has already passed the bill in March. The amendment mandates a minimum sentence of seven years in any ''serious offenses'' under the act.
