Kerala CM Says Eliminating Fake News Does not Affect Media Freedom

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government's decision to use police force against fake news would not affect "media freedom". He stressed on the need to bust fake news and said that it is a "disaster" that affects the entire society and "endangers democracy". Earlier, Kerala government has set up an 'anti-fake news division' and 'fact check division' to prevent misinformation during the pandemic.
