Bihar's first phase of panchayat elections begun on September 24 and voting will be conducted in 12 blocks covering ten districts from 7 AM to 5 PM. About 15,328 candidates filed nomination papers but only 858 have been elected unopposed. Ironically, no one filed nomination papers for 72 posts. The counting of votes will be held in the district headquarters. The second phase of voting will start on September 30.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US Vice President Kamala Harris discussed the role of Pakistan in terrorism that impacts India, the US, and the world in Washington on September 23. Reportedly, Harris ''suo moto referred Pakistan's role in regard of terrorism'' and she also asked ''Pakistan to take action'' against it. Algerian Airspace has reportedly been blocked by the Algerian government for all Moroccan flights due to rising tensions between the two. The Algerian Presidency called it a civilised way of avoiding more casualties and confirmed the ban on September 22. He cited "continued provocations and hostile practices by Morocco" as the reason. Morocco has not yet commented. Flights to be diverted via Tunis for Algerian to Morocco.

TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on September 22 claimed that if she doesn't win the Bhabanipur bypolls someone else from her party will become Chief Minister of West Bengal. The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on September 21 announced that it has decided to nominate S Selvaganapathy as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Puducherry. Reportedly, a seat will vacate on October 6 when the incumbent member N Gokulakrishan's term will end. The election for that seat would be held on October 4. Notably, BJP is running its government here in alliance with the All India NR Congress (AINRC).
On the occasion of World Car Free day, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar rode a bicycle with his colleagues and MLAs from his residence to the secretariat in Chandigarh on September 22. Khattar also said his government would soon launch an electric vehicle policy and will give subsidies on EVs to protect the environment from being polluted. The Indian government on September 21 announced that Air Marshal VR Chaudhari will be the next Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Chaudhari will take charge after the retirement of RKS Bhadauria on September 30. Currently, VK Chaudhari, the awardee of Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishish Seva Medal, and Vayu Sena Medal, has been serving as the Vice Chief of Air Staff. He's in IAF since 1982.
