Congress leader Hanumantha Rao said the Nupur Sharma controversy, which has now become a globally outrageous issue is a conspiracy of the PM Modi-led BJP Government. On June 8, Rao said, "BJP leaders like Nupur Sharma and Navin Jindal should be arrested immediately," said Rao. Furthermore, he slammed the BJP Government for failing the youths and citizens of India and said, BJP Government's actions contrasts to the unity of diversity.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has issued an apology for endorsing tobacco. After receiving a huge backlash from his fans for signing a deal with tobacco brand Vimal, he has since expressed regret.
