CERC Allows Power Plants to Recover FGD Cost Over Plants' Life
Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) allowed power producers to recover additional cost of Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) device from consumers for 25 years. Reportedly, power plants will be allowed to recover their costs during the tenure of power purchase agreements. Earlier, Environment ministry notified thermal power plants to retrofit their units with FGD, to cut SO2 and NO2 emissions, by December 2022.
