Eldhose Paul 1st Indian To Reach Triple Jump Final At World Athletics Championships

Eldhose Paul became the first triple jumper from India to go to the World Athletics Championships final on July 21. The 25-year-old qualified for the top battle with a personal best of 16.68 meters, placing him in 12th slot overall. The other two Indians competing in the event, Praveen Chithravel (Group A) and Abdulla Aboobacker (Group B), both failed to qualify. The men's triple jump finals are slated for July 23.

Avinash Sable Places 11th In 3000m Steeplechase Final At World Athletics Championships 2022

Avinash Sable of India placed 11th in the final of the men's 3000m steeplechase event on the fourth day of competition at the World Athletics Championships. The 27-year-old Sable ran 8:31.75, much below his season and personal best of 8:12.48, a national record. He had placed third in heat number three and seventh overall (8:18.75) to qualify for the final.

World Athletics Championships 2022: Avinash Sable & Murali Sreeshankar Qualify For Finals

Murali Sreeshankar became India's first male long jumper to reach the World Athletics Championships finals. Avinash Sable, a 3000m steeplechaser, also made the cut on the first day of events in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Two additional Indians, Jeswin Aldrin, and Muhammed Anees Yahiya finished tenth and eleventh in the Group A qualification round with best jumps of 7.79m and 7.73m, respectively. The finals will take place on July 17.

Tokyo Paralympics: Bhavina Patel To Face China's Ying Zhou For Gold

India's table tennis player Bhavina Patel entered the finals at the Tokyo Paralympics and became the first Indian player to do so on August 27. Patel defeated China's Zhang Miao in the semi-final and also secured a medal for India. She will now face China's Ying Zhou for gold on August 28. ''I'd win my final match due to the support of the people of India,'' Patel said.
