HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd, separate entities, announced a merger on April 4. Although the talks of the deal were underway, the final announcement was made during an event in Mumbai. A senior official close to the development said, "The evaluation had been going on but it moved over the last couple of weeks and got finalized".
