Unfreeze $10 Billion Frozen Funds To Show Goodwill: Iran To The US

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on October 2, revealed that US officials tried to discuss restarting nuclear talks last month, but he insisted they must first release $10 billion of Iran's frozen funds as a sign of goodwill. "The Americans tried to contact us through different channels, and I told the mediators if America's intentions are serious then a serious indication was needed...," the Minister said.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 5.1 Reported In Iran Near Turkmenistan

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale was reported in northeastern Iran close to the border with Turkmenistan on September 13. The jots of the earthquake were also felt in Iran's Quchan city. However, any human casualties and damage to properties have not been reported so far anywhere. The epicenter was recorded at the depth of 10 kilometers from the surface.

Ukrainian Plane Hijacked; Lands In Iran After Kabul Airport For Refueling

As countries are making efforts to evacuate their citizens from Afghanistan, a Ukrainian plane, which landed in Afghanistan to evacuate their residents, has been hijacked by an unidentified group. Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Yenin confirms the incident and informed that hijackers were heavily armed. However, Iran's Civil Aviation Organisation says the plane landed in Mashhad but flew to Ukraine after refueling.

Israel has blamed Iran for the deadly attack on the tanker. "Iran is not just an Israeli problem, but an exporter of terrorism, destruction, and instability that harms us all," Israeli foreign minister, Yasir Lapid said in a statement.

Oxygen Tank Explosion In Hospital Leaves 44 Dead & 67 Injured: Iran

In a tragic accident in Iran, at least 44 people lost their lives and 67 left injured in a fire mishap at a hospital on July 13, in Iran's Nassiriya. Reportedly, an oxygen tank explosion inside the hospital's COVID-19 wards caused the deadly fire. PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi ordered the suspension and arrest of the hospital's manager. Sadly, the death toll is expected to increase as the rescue operation is ongoing.
