Journalist Welfare Fund

The Union government has decided to provide compensation of up to Rs 5 lakh to the relatives of journalists, who died on COVID-19 duty. The Press Information Bureau has even asked states to send lists of such journalists. Till now, the PIB has compiled a list of about two dozen such journalists. An official said the financial aid to these families shall be extended through the PIB's Journalist Welfare Fund.
