Kanpur Bus Accident: PM Modi Expresses Condolence To The Lives Lost

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31 condoled the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Kanpur, and wished speedy recovery to the injured. In a tweet, Modi said that he is very sad to learn about the accident and expressed condolences to the families of deceased persons. At least six persons died and several others were injured when a bus lost control and mowed down bystanders.

Rahul Gandhi Expresses Grief Over Deaths In Kanpur Bus Accident

A tragic incident happened on January 30 night in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and expressed grief over the loss of lives in the bus accident. "I appeal all my Congress colleagues to help in every possible way," tweeted Rahul. In an accident, at least five people have died and several are injured. The driver of the bus is absconding, said DSP Pramod Kumar.

2 Died Of Suffocation At 3-Storey Building In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur

A major fire broke out on January 29, at a three-storey building sweet shop in the Kothi market in UP's Kanpur. Two people, Raj Kishore Sweets- Shyam Narayan and Sunny who were sleeping inside the building died due to suffocation, said Fire Officer Ramesh Chandra. However, the entire shop was burnt due to inflammable items. Meanwhile, the cause behind the fire is not ascertained.

Kanpur Administration Imposes Fresh Restrictions Amid Covid-19 Surge

In view of the COVID-19 surge, the Kanpur administration has imposed fresh COVID restrictions by ordering the shut out of gyms and swimming pools from January 11. "Restaurants and eating joints will be allowed to operate at 50% capacity, " Kanpur District Magistrate Vishak G Iyer said to ANI. Kanpur crossed 1000 cases of COVID on January 11 and Uttar Pradesh reported 11,089 COVID cases and five deaths.

Income Tax Dept Seizes Rs 150 Crore Cash From 'Samajwadi Perfume' Makers

Income Tax department recovered Rs 150 crore cash in a raid from the offices and premises of businessman Piyush Jain in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, on December 23. Jain was reportedly in close relations with ex CM Akhilesh Yadav and is also known for launching Samajwadi Attar (perfume). Besides, the team also conducted a raid at the premises of betel trader KK Agarwal in Kanpur.

Uttar Pradesh Govt Suspends Cop After Being Spotted In Viral Video
