Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, the National President of BJP, JP Nadda is set to visit Kanpur next week to kick off the party's poll campaign for 52 seats in the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region. Mr. Nadda will reportedly address 22,143 booth presidents of all 52 seats on November 23. He is also expected to inaugurate the party's new regional office in Kanpur's Naubasta Old Maurang Mandi. 

Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district reported 10 cases of Zika virus, the government said on November 1. Reportedly, the new cases were detected following the surveillance and testing were ramped up when the state reported its first case of the virus in October. The disease spread through infected mosquitoes. Notably, CM Yogi Adityanath already ordered the health officials to conduct door-to-door sanitisation and fogging drives. 

For disobeying Covid-19 imposed curfew in Uttar Pradesh's Bangarmau, an 18-year-old vegetable vendor was severely assaulted by two police constables and a home guard at the Bangarmau Kotwali police station. Faizal was allegedly brought to custody and was beaten by the constable Vijay Chaudhary and the home guard Satya Prakash, while another constable Seemavat was also involved in the case. Afsar Ahmad, an e-rickshaw driver in Kanpur, was assaulted on August 11 by some Hindu extremists forcing him to chant "Jai Shri Ram" while his five-year-old daughter cried and pleaded to set him free. The men were seen wearing saffron scarves accusing Ahmad of raising anti-national slogans while he repeatedly denied it. Fortunately, the police rescued the duo to a police station. Three people have been arrested hitherto.

A resident of Shastri Nagar in Kanpur has logged an FIR under Section 420 of IPC against his wife and in-laws. Reportedly, both of them had married on April 28, however, she was refusing to establish a physical relationship for a long-time. Finally, the man took his wife to a "gynecologist" who confirmed her to be a "transgender''. Besides, the Investigations are underway, said the police.
