Itanagar-Hollongi Highway Landslide Causes Connectivity Issues: Arunachal Pradesh

In Itanagar, a massive landslide blocked an arterial road, resulting in a massive traffic jam and causing trouble to people stranded with their vehicles. On June 21, due to the landslide, Itanagar-Hollongi near Chimphu,  at 10:30 am. The administration started work to clear the debris, which is likely to be finished in a couple of days, leaving stranded vehicles and people with no choice but to stay nearby.

3 Family Members Including 2 Minors Killed In Landslide: Meghalaya

In Meghalaya's South West Garo Hills district, three family members including two minors were killed in a landslide, on June 9. The incident occurred at Jibalgre village and the landslide was reportedly triggered by incessant rains in the area. According to SP Vivekanand Singh, the trio were buried alive due to the landslide. Furthermore, one timber bridge over Bandra river, was washed away.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Dima Hasao To Review Landslide Situation

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Dima Hasao district to review the flood and landslide situation, on May 24. Dima Hasao district has been badly affected by landslides, due to which, centre had earlier sanctioned Rs 180 crore for development works in the rail network which was disrupted. Reportedly, 12 villages in the district have reported landslides, over 80 houses have been affected and three persons lost their lives.

Jammu & Kashmir National Highway Closed Amid Landslide

On February 28, the national highway of Jammu-Srinagar was blocked due to a landslide at Dewal near Samroli, Udhampur. Moreover, the J&K police have issued an advisory for the people not to travel Jammu and Kashmir highway till the clearance work is done. However, currently, clearance work is underway. 5 Killed, 9 Missing After Landslide In China's Guizhou Province

In Bijie City of China's Guizhou province, five people were killed and nine others went missing in a landslide incident that hit a construction site, authorities informed on January 4. Reportedly, the landslide occurred at around 7 pm on January 3. Meanwhile, eight people were rescued, with three of them stable in hospital, while five others were declared dead. Rescue teams are searching for missing people, reported ANI.

Landslide In China's Sichuan Claims 2 Lives; 12 Missing

Following a landslide in China's Sichuan Province, at least two people lost their lives and 12 people were reported missing on September 26. According to media reports, the landslide was caused by heavy rains in the region. Local earthquake disaster headquarters announced a level two emergency response. However, the Sichuan authorities also launched a search and rescue operation to trace the missing persons.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rampur & a police team has been stationed by the DM to examine the situation. Heavy rain during the monsoon season in eco-fragile Himachal Pradesh has caused frequent landslides.

15 Dead In Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur Landslide

The rescue team in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district recovered another dead body while tracing the landslide's victim on the morning of August 13. The death toll has now reached 15 following the 10 bodies found on August 12 and four on August 11. The NDRF, ITBP, and the state police are jointly carrying out the rescue operation to trace 14 others, said State Disaster Management Director.

Himachal's Kinnaur Landslide: Death Toll Up 13, 60 Feared Missing

With rescue teams recovering more bodies on August 12, the death toll in Himachal's Kinnaur district landslide has risen to 13. Authorities and locals have hinted that more dead bodies are likely to be found during further search operations. Meanwhile, officials said that "60 others are feared of being trapped under debris after several vehicles, including a bus carrying 24 passengers", following the August 11 landslide.

Over 40 Stuck Under the Landslide's Wreckage In HP's Kinnaur

A landslide occurred on the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district on August 11. According to the deputy commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq, a bus of Himachal Road Transport Corporation carrying 40 passengers stuck under the wreckage. Besides, ITBP tweeted, ''At around 12.45 Hrs. One truck, an HRTC bus and few vehicles reported came under the rubble.'' However, CM Jairam Thakur directed the ''rescue operations''.
