GNLA's Late Commander In Chief Sohan D Shira's Hidden Weaponry Found: Meghalaya
In Meghalaya's East Garo Hills, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered, informed police on August 13. The weaponry is suspected to have been hidden by the proscribed outfit Gato National Liberation Army's (GNLA) commander in chief Sohan D Shira. This has come after Shira was killed in a police action, couple of years back. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Assam CM Himanta Sarma Credits PM Modi For Reduction In Discrimination Against Northeast Students
While addressing a press conference, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the discrimination against northeast students have gone down in recent years due to PM Modi's outreach to the region. He said that the discrimination has gone down to a "huge extent" due to "PM Modi's huge outreach to the northeast". He further stated that PM Modi's "visionary leadership has repositioned India as a strong global power".
