Norway Chess Championship

In a one-day blitz event prior to the 10th edition of the Norway Chess Championship, Viswanathan Anand beat world No.1, Magnus Carlsen. Anand, however, lost in the fourth and ninth rounds to Anish Giri (Netherlands) and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) to end with 5 points in the 10-player blitz tournament on May 31. The Indian GM won the blitz against Aryan Tari of Norway before tying with So in round two.
