9 PFI Members Arrested In Assam In Join Operation By ED, NIA & Police

Assam police arrested around nine persons linked with Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 22. The join operation was organised by ED, NIA and the state police department. The operation involved 1,500 personnel across 11 states. About 106 PFI members were arrested in total, in an operation that commenced at around 1 pm and concluded at around 5 am.

NIA, ED Conducts Raids Across 11 States, Arrests 106 PFI Members

In a join operation conducted by NIA, ED and the respected state police departments across 11 states, around 106 Popular Front of India (PFI) members were arrested on September 22. The highest number of arrested persons were from Kerala (22), followed by Karnataka (20) and Maharashtra (20). The operation commenced at around 1 am in the night and concluded at around 5 am. The operation involved over 1,500 personnel.

Kerala: 18 More Persons Arrested In PFI Minor Sloganeering Case

Kerala police has arrested 18 more persons in connection to the Alappuzha PFI sloganeering case, in which a minor was seen chanting religiously provocative slogans. Anas, on whom the minor boy was seen sitting, was the first one arrested in the case. PFI Alappuzha district president Nawas Vandanam and district secretary Mujeeb have also been lodged in the case. The boy was seen chanting slogans against Hindu, Christian communities.

ED Arrests PFI Leader MK Ashraf In Money Laundering Case

Popular Front of India (PFI) leader MK Ashraf has been arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the ongoing money laundering probe, on April 13. Following the arrest PFI chairman OMA Salam strongly condemned the arrest, and accused ED for acting as "puppets" for the "political masters". "PFI will not be intimidated by these politically motivated cases and will mobilize public opinion against the ED violations," said Salam.

UP Government Demand To Ban Popular Front Of India (PFI) Offices

UP's Special task Force (STF) raided several offices of Popular Front of India (PFI) and student wing Campus Front of India (CFI) in Delhi, followed by the arrest of CFI leader. Earlier on February 17, PFI leader Rauf Shareef was sent to judicial custody for five days. Besides, ED has accused Shareef of funding the trip of Siddique Kappan, the accused of Hathras rape case. However, the UP govt has demanded a ban on PFI.

Enforcement Directorate Raids Popular Front of India's Premises

Residences and offices of Popular Front of India (PFI) Chairman OM Abdul Salam and the party's other premises across the country have been raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on December 3. Reportedly, the ED has discovered irregular financial back-up to the PFI ahead of the CAA protests. Besides, they have found a "correlation" between transactions and date of protests. However, the PFI has refused all the allegations.

UP Police Book Kerala-based Journalist Under UAPA In Hathras

The Uttar Pradesh police on October 7 booked a journalist and three others under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Reportedly, all the four people, including the journalist Siddique Kappan from Kerala, were arrested in Hathras. They were alleged of having links with Popular Front of India, which is banned in the state. An FIR has been lodged against them under IPC Sections 124A, 153A and 295A, informed the police.
