Greek Composer Vangelis Papathanassiou Perishes At The Age Of 79

Vangelis Papathanassiou, a Greek composer, died at the age of 79. Vangelis, born Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, perished in a French hospital on May 17. Vangelis is described by Greece's prime minister as an "electronic sound trailblazer." He composed the iconic score for Chariots of Fire in 1981. He has composed music for dozens of additional films, documentaries, and television shows.
