Fergusson Becomes Star As Kolkata Thrashes Hyderabad In Super Over
IPL 2020's 35th match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad turned out to be a nail-biting super-over contest. Put to bat first, Kolkata could not exploit a decent 48-run opening partnership of Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi as it lost wickets at regular intervals in the middle-overs. However, Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan played dedicatedly in the last overs and guided Kolkata to a fighting total of 163 runs. In response, Hyderabad's new opening combination of Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson provided a good start to the team with their 57-run partnership. However, it was Kolkata's Lockie Ferguson's day, who dismantled Hyderabad's batting line-up. The match went to the final over and Kolkata's Andre Russel contained Hyderabad to cross the winning-line, ending the game in a tie. Ferguson's magic worked again in the super-over as he dismissed two Sunrisers at just 2 runs. Kolkata chased 3 runs with ease and clinched the victory over Hyderabad.
