Kolkata: Confusion Surrounding E-Passes Sours Resumption of Metro Services
Kolkata Metro on September 14 resumed its services, which were shelved since March. However, the travel was not smooth for all as many were not aware of the mandatory requirement of 'e-pass' to travel in the metro. As per the metro officials, only those can travel who have an e-pass, which could be generated from the Kolkata metro application- 'Pathadisha'. People without e-pass were barred to enter the stations. A middle aged man revealed he had no idea about the application that generated the e-pass. One of the students of Ashutosh College said, "I knew about the e-pass system but I faced issues while generating it." Meanwhile, the police officials were trying to ensure that people maintain social distancing throughout the journey. Some of the metro stations made a rule of entering only through one gate and exiting through another, to control the crowd.
