Satellite Images Show 'Mega-Drought' Affecting Andes Mountain Range

Satellite images released by EU's Satellite Copernicus Sentinel-3 show the “mega-drought” rand snow deficient affecting the Andes Mountain range. The decade-long drought topped with historically low snowfall in 2021 is caused by the rising global warming, claimed scientists. Ricardo Villalba, IANIGLA's principal investigator, said that the communities depending on water supply from the mountains will suffer shortages. "The glaciers are in a very dramatic process of retreat", he added.
