Swiggy To Deliver Foods From Street Vendors Through PM SVANIDHI Scheme
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with online food delivery app, Swiggy, to deliver foods from street vendors under PM SVANIDHI scheme. The initiative will help thousands of vendors to develop their businesses in these trying times of the pandemic while adhering to the physical distancing norms. Reportedly, in the initial stage, Swiggy will run the programme for 250 vendors across five cities - Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Indore, and Varanasi - on pilot basis. The company will train the vendors with the app and help in registrations with food safety authorities. The company also mentioned the extension of the program to other parts of the country once the pilot project is successfully implemented.
