UN General Assembly Adopts Multilingualism, Mentions Hindi, Bangla & Urdu For First Time
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted multilingualism, an India-sponsored resolution, for the first time mentioning Hindi language. With this, UN will continue to disseminate messages and communications in official as well as non-official languages, which includes Hindi language. Furthermore, the resolution also mentions Bangla and Urdu for the first time. Ambassador TS Tirumurti welcomed the gesture and expressed gratitude to the UN Secretary-General for prioritising multilingualism.
