N Chandrasekaran Appointed As Air India Chairman

Tata Sons chief Natarajan Chandrasekaran was appointed as chairman of Air India. Before heading Tata Sons, Chandrasekaran was the chairman of Tata Consultancy Services. Earlier, Ilker Ayci, former chairman of Turkish Airlines, had turned down the Tata Group's offer to be the CEO and MD of Air India. Notably, the Tata Group had emerged as the winning bidder for 100% of Air India in 2021.

Terrorist Zahoor Mistry, One Behind 1999 Hijacked Air India Flight Murdered In Karachi

Zahoor Mistry, who was associated with the terror outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad and was involved in the1999 hijacking of Indian plane IC-814. reportedly been murdered in Pakistan’s Karachi. On March 1, two bike-borne assailants killed Zahoor at his residence. The two assailants were caught in the CCTV and are yet to be identified. However, Pakistani intelligence agency ISI was also caught off guard by the attack.

PM Narendra Modi asked the Indian Air Force (IAF) to join 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate Indian nationals in Ukraine, amid the ongoing invasion. Good To Be Back In India, Says Students Returnee From Ukraine

Students who returned from Ukraine on February 27, amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis, thanked the Indian Government for the special arrangements of Air India flights for their evacuation. After returning to Mumbai, the students said, "we are proud of the Indian Government". Air India To Start Evacuation Flights To Countries Bordering Ukraine

Amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Air India will start evacuation flights to countries bordering Ukraine for stranded Indians. Air India will operate four flights in which two will be sent to Romania, one to Hungary, and another is on its way. "The government of India is completely seized with the matter. Every Indian will go back home," said Partha Satpath, Indian Ambassador. Notably, on February 24, Russia declared war against Ukraine.

First Air India Flight Takes Off To Carry Back India Citizens From Ukraine

An Air India ferry flight took off from the IGI Airport in New Delhi at 7:36 AM in Ukraine for the Indians who wished to return home. The Dreamliner B-787 aircraft is deployed for special operation with a capacity of over 200 seats. Air India Flight Receives 'Water Salute' In Maldives Marking 46 Years Of Air Service

Air India's AI-267 flight recieved 'water salute' when it landed on Maldives' Male airport to commemorate 46 years of air service. "Air India operated its first flight from Trivandrum to Male, in February 1976," tweeted Air India. Reportedly, when the flight was landed, Male airport officials were ready with their water cannons. Air India was formally handed over to Tata Group after 69 years of nationalisation.
