India Defeats Maldives In SAFF U20 Championship, To Face Bangladesh In Finals
A ten-man India U20 team beat the Maldives on August 2 in their last league match at the Kalinga Stadium, securing a spot in the final of the SAFF U20 Championship. In the final, India U20 will play Bangladesh U20 on August 5. Earlier, Maldives' only attempt at an Indian goal came in the opening minute, but Indian goalkeeper Som Kumar dove to his right to deflect a Zain Zafar free-kick.

Air India Flight Receives 'Water Salute' In Maldives Marking 46 Years Of Air Service
Air India's AI-267 flight recieved 'water salute' when it landed on Maldives' Male airport to commemorate 46 years of air service. "Air India operated its first flight from Trivandrum to Male, in February 1976," tweeted Air India. Reportedly, when the flight was landed, Male airport officials were ready with their water cannons. Air India was formally handed over to Tata Group after 69 years of nationalisation.

Maldives Government Plans New Law To Curb Anti-India Protests
The ruling Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has drafted a Bill to bring down the 'India Out' protests in the country. The protest began two years ago, in the backdrop of the nearness of the current Ibrahim Solih government. The Bill is said to have proposed a fine, a six-month imprisonment or one-year of house arrest, for the protestors. Notably, the legislation is required to put the government on alert.

Centre Approves First Ever Indian Consulate To Be Built In Maldives

Nepal Seeks International Help Over Vaccine Delays Promised By India
Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli lamented that India did not fulfill their promise of giving enough vaccines. Reportedly, Nepal was promised to receive one-million doses of COVID vaccines to administer second jab to its citizens. Requesting help from China, US and other countries, Oli said unless timely second dose is given, the first dose will be meaningless.
