Pune Court Orders Woman To Pay Alimony To Ex-husband; Says, 'Shouldn't Be Gender Specific'
A family court in Pune ordered a 78-year-old woman to pay alimony of Rs 25,000 every month to her 83-year-old ex-husband. Reportedly, after 55 years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in 2019. According to Section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act, the husband, having no income, can also claim for alimony. Upon pronouncing the order, Tye court stated that the law "shouldn't be gender specific".

Divorced Women Are Liable To Receive Alimony From Husband, Says HC
In its order on June 23, the Delhi High court has directed a divorced father to provide alimony despite his son turns 18-year. The cost of living is rising and hence the mother is not single-handedly liable to bear the cost of her children, said the court. However, the man will have to pay Rs. 15,000 per month till his son doesn't complete graduation or starts earning, whichever is earlier.
