Two tourists, who belong to Pune, died after their car went down a stream in Arpora, North Goa, on the morning of September 20 at 5:20 AM. The victims have been identified as Shubham Dedge (28) and Ishwari Deshpande (25). As per Anjuna Police Station Inspector Suraj Gawas, “Primary investigation suggests that the mishap took place because the driver lost control of the car.”
In its 5G trials on government allocated 5G spectrum in Pune and Gandhinagar, Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) has managed to achieve the downloading speed of up to 1.5 Gb/s with low latency on the mm-Wave spectrum band. Reportedly, it will improve video streaming/broadcast and online gaming experience. A 16-year old teenager from Pune has committed an almost "perfect crime" by stealing 160 grams of gold jewellery from his own house. The gold ornaments were sold to jewellers by three of his friends. A sex racket operating out of Pune's Kanak Spa, located near Baner area was busted on September 8. Reportedly, around eight women, lured into sex trafficking were rescued who belong to different parts of the country. However, the racket was only confirmed after a decoy customer who was sent by the police, confirmed it, leading to arrests. Besides, an FIR has been lodged at Chaturshringi police station, and the accused have been arrested.
In a shocking incident, Pune Police has arrested 11 people so far including six autorickshaw drivers, two railway employees, and three others, for gang-raping a 13-year-old girl on August 31. Reportedly, an accused, autorickshaw driver who offered the service to drop the girl home had called others to rape the minor. However, the victim was taken to the hospital and is said to be stable.

Chakan police station has filed a case against a woman’s husband, mother-in-law, and a godman for allegedly stripping her, smearing her body with ashes as a part of a black magic ritual. The godman confirmed that the ritual would enable the 31-year-old lady to give birth to a male child. Her in-laws even harassed her for dowry. They all have been booked under IPC sections 354, 498(a), 323, 504, 506, 34, 3, and 25.
Pune reported 1050 fresh covid cases on August 29 while 898 are recovered and got discharge from the hospital. Almost 69,475 people have been vaccinated in Pune. Dr Bhagwan Pawar, District Health Officer stated that out of 9089 active cases of coronavirus only 4593 were hospitalized and the rest 4496 remained at home isolation. Out of fresh cases almost ten people died.

Jayant Sathe hailing from Maharashtra's Pune has been making ceramic dolls for almost 30 years. Originally an engineer, the 86-year-old man left his job at 55 and got into what he always wanted to do, art. He specifically learned Japanese dollmaking and started creating Japanese and Indian dolls. "The inspiration came to me to make handmade dolls after I came across Chinese-made Japanese dolls in Mumbai," he stated.

Two people sustained severe burn injuries after a fire broke out in a Chemical Storage Facility located in the outskirts of Pune on the night of August 7. The fire also left a few vehicles and bushes outside the facility gutted. The fire was extinguished by the Pune fire department, with assistance from the "PMRDA". The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Following Kerala, Maharashtra has reported its first case of Zika virus infection in a 50-year-old woman from Pune's Purandar. However, the woman endured full recovery and her family members are reported to be safe. Reportedly, the team of the National Institute of Virology (NIV) visited Purandar who collected the blood samples confirmed the case. Notably, Aedes mosquitoes are the source of the virus, which also causes Chikungunya.
