Steve Jobs' Handwritten Job Application Sells For GBP 162,000 At Auction
The single-page handwritten job application from 1973 belonging to former Apple CEO Steve Jobs was sold at an auction held by Charterfields in the UK. The month-long bidding closed on March 24 with the application being sold at GBP 162,000 (roughly Rs 1.6 crore). Reportedly, the application was filed for one of his first jobs as a college dropout, which mentioned calculator and computer design as his main skills.

VS Gaitonde's Canvas Becomes Most Expensive Indian Art in an Auction
A 1961 untitled oil canvas was sold at Rs 39.98 crore on March 11 became the most expensive Indian art in an auction. Sold at Saffronart Spring Auction, the masterpiece was made by abstract painter VS Gaitonde. Interestingly, the previous record was also held by the abstractionist's work that was sold for Rs 36.80 crore. Currently, the most expensive artwork in the world was sold for $450.3 million.

SBI To Float 4,774 Mortgaged Properties For E-Auction On December 30
The State Bank of India will start a virtual auction of 4,774 mortgaged properties on December 30. The mortgaged properties include 3,317 residential, 935 commercial, 513 industrial and nine agricultural properties. The SBI mega e-auction will provide buyers an opportunity to purchase properties at a lower price than that of the market rate. Banks auction mortgaged properties to recover dues from the loan defaulters.

Racing Pigeon Sold For A Record-breaking Rs 14 Crore
In an expensive purchase, a Chinese citizen has bought a bird for a whopping $1.9 million in Belgium. The anonymous buyer has spend the sum that is equivalent to Rs 14 crore to purchase a female racing pigeon, named 'New Kim'. Reportedly, the bird is two years old and is an excellent racer. The previous record for costliest sale was held by a pigeon, Armando, which was sold for 1.25 million euros.

Odisha Government Requests Centre to Defer Coal Block Auction
The Odisha Government requested the Central Government on September 22, to postpone the auction of coal blocks by at least three months. The letter, addressed to Union Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi, stated that the market value of coal has seen a dip, owing to the pandemic and an auction during such a time will adversely affect the state revenue. The e-auction of 41 coal mines is scheduled between October 19- November 9.
