To ensure the cleanliness at beaches, a group of youngsters from Andhra Pradesh's Mandasa mandal has started a campaign named 'Great Mandasa - Clean Mandasa'. The group cleans up the beach near Ratti village in Mandasa mandal after tourists and visitors litter them with plastic wastes and garbage. Besides, the youths also sensitise people about cleanliness and COVID-19 protocols. They plan to launch the campaign at other beaches as well.

Union Environmental Minister Prakash Javadekar on October 11 announced that eight Indian beaches have been accredited with 'Blue Flag' certification in a single attempt, by an international jury. They include - Shivrajpur, Ghoghla, Kasarkod and Padubidri, Kappad, Rushikonda, Golden Beach and Radhanagar.
