Tamil Nadu To Become 1st State To Ban LGBTQ+ Conversion Therapy
Tamil Nadu is set to become the first state to ban "any attempts to medically cure or change the sexual orientation" of transgenders. Issuing guidelines in this regard, the Madras High Court on June 7 observed that it was transgenders' constitutional right to decide on their sexual orientation. The court also directed all the government departments to ensure that the LGBTQIA+ community is "not pushed out of the mainstream".
