19-Year-Old Boy Charred To Death In Gandhi Nagar Market Fire Incident: New Delhi
In New Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar market fire incident, a 19-year-old boy was charred to death on October 5, informed officials. The deceased was reportedly an employee and owner’s brother at the shop that caught on fire. The incident was first reported by Aftab, a worker at the cloth shop, who saw smoke from the shop as he was returning from the main road.

Delhi’s Mundka Fire Tragedy: Building Owner Files Revision Petition Challenging Order Denying Bail
In the ongoing investigation into the Delhi’s Mundka fire case, the building owner accused has filed a revision petition, challenging the order denying him bail. The petitioner had reportedly filed a bail application on the grounds that charge-sheet has not been filed. However, the application was rejected. The case pertains to a fire incident in Mundka area, on May 13, which killed at least 27 persons.

Delhi police have arrested four members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) over a week, following its ban, an official confirmed on October 3. This marks the first few arrested after the central government banned the organisation. After getting information of certain suspicious activities, Delhi police conducted raids at several locations, carried out the arrested and also seized three properties.

Gangster Neeraj Bawani’s Father Arrested For Possession Of Illegal Weapons
The Outer-north district police of Delhi arrested infamous gangster Neeraj Bawani’s father for alleged possession of illegal weapons, on September 29, informed Delhi police. The arrest has come after the police conducted a raid at his residence, where the weapon was seized. Earlier on September 16, police arrested Sonu, a Neeraj Bawani gang member and recovered a bulletproof SUV and a Scorpio, along with huge cache of arms.

Vijay Nair Sent To 5-Day CBI Remand In Delhi Excise Policy Case
In the ongoing investigation of the Delhi Excise policy case, a Delhi court has sent Vijay Nair to five-day CBI remand. Although, the CBI had sought for a seven-day remand. Vijay Nair is the communications chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the former CEO of Mumbai-based entertainment company ‘Only Much Louder’. Nair was arrested on September 27, for cartelisation, conspiracy and chosen licensing.

Central Govt Approves Hike In DA, DR For Govt Employees In India
India’s cabinet has approved a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), to provide relief for government employees, especially during festive season. On September 28, the BJP-led GoI approved a DA hike of 4% for 4.7 million employees of the central government, while 6.8 million pensioners will get Dearness Relief (DR). The DA and DR amount were long awaited by the Central Government employees in India.

SC Prohibits Commercial Activities Within 500 Metres Of Taj Mahal
In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court of India has directed the Agra Development Authority to immediately stop all the commercial activities within 500 metres radius of the Taj Mahal. Reportedly, the 500 metre radius is a “no construction zone”, and vehicular movements are also strictly regulated. Moreover, burning of wood, municipal solid waste and agricultural waste are also prohibited in the said area.

SC To Not Entertain Plea Seeking To Regulate Consumption Of Alcohol
The Supreme Court of India refused to entertain a plea seeking regulation of consumption of Alcohol in Delhi. The plea was filed by BJP spokesperson and advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, and seeked to frame an effective policy to prohibit the consumption, except for medicinal purposes. “Some people say that drinks taken in small quantities can be good for health,” observed the court.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Rainfall In Delhi, Alerts Citizens
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall in Delhi, for the next two-three days, till September 27. As per ANI, on September 22, midnight, the national capital received heavy rainfall, due to a fresh cloud approaching the city.
