French Open to Allow Only 5000 Viewers Per Day As COVID Cases Surge

The French Tennis Federation on September 17 reduced the number of fans who will be permitted to spectate matches: from 11,500 to 5000. The decision was taken in view of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases. "The health situation in the Ile-de-France region has led the Paris Police Prefecture to limit the number of spectators", said the FFT. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 27 in Roland Garros.
